Our Community - Supporting Local Charities

Like many businesses we want to lend our support to help local charities, this year we have chosen Rowcroft Hospice in Torquay which serves the people of South Devon by providing specialist care to patients with progressive, life limiting illnesses.

Each year we promote one charity to raise awareness of the charity and any fund raising events they may have. We have charity ‘jars on the bars’ for any change you could spare,  we also have Two Mile Oak T-Shirts for sale, with all proceeds going to the charity, plus, we also have a wide selection of books for sale which you’ll find on our bookshelf located in the main lobby entrance to the bar and restaurant.

If you would like more information on our charity or want to purchase any of our charity items then please contact Debbie, Dave or any of the staff.

Event Type: Runs, Walks & Cycles

When: 26th July 2014

On Saturday 26th July 2014 Rowcroft Hospice and Barbara the Sheep will bring the buzz of Brazil, the sounds of samba and the rhythm of Rio to the streets of South Devon! This year's Sleep Walk has a carnival theme and the atmosphere on the night will be incredible, with over 1500 ladies coming together to support their local hospice, Rowcroft.

This year the sponsored night walk has two great routes of 5 or 10 miles, each passing through fantastic venues including Barbara's Rio Retreat; and for the first time EVER, ladies from ages 10 and up can participate in the Sleep Walk.

All funds raised will go towards supporting the hospice's vital work, providing care and support for adults over 18 living with a terminal illness.

We’ve seen amazing support this year and have already filled our allocated places for the event. However we are still looking for volunteers to help out on the night, if you'd like more information about volunteering click here!

We Helped to raise £1232.36

National Coast Watch

More than £1200 has been raised for the National Coastwatch Institution by regulars at the Two Mile Oak pub near Abbotskerswell.

Debbie and Dave support a different charity each year and decided that the recipient this time would be the NCI's Froward Point lookout at Kingswear.

A total of £1232.36 was raised through book and calendar sales, collecting boxes and a Christmas prize draw. Miss Edger and staff impressed the NCI watchkeepers so much that they now have a monthly lunch at the pub!

Artist Geoff Goodwin has donated a percentage from the sale of his paintings displayed at the Pub.

Take a look here.

Chairman Paul West said "The money raised by Debbie and her staff will go a long way to cover Froward Point's £8000 annual running costs. Their generous support and hard work are deeply appreciated".

Our annual Christmas Raffle drawn just before Christmas each year begins at the end of October with raffle tickets going on sale for £1 each. There are some fantastic prizes up for grabs which last year included hampers, a coffee machine, a golf day and a Kindle.
